Babli Bouncer finally got a trailer – in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Disney+ Hotstar unveiled the trailer for the upcoming Tamannaah Bhatia-led comedy-drama, ahead of its September 23 release. Padma Shri winner Madhur Bhandarkar (Chandni Bar) directs the film, though it is a far cry from his past, seriously-toned socio-politics-focused entries. He co-wrote for Babli Bouncer with a team of two people: Aradhana Debnath and Amit Joshi, the latter collaborating on “India Lockdown”. Babli Bouncer released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu with dubs, exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
Set in the surreal ‘Bouncer Village’ Fatehpur Beri of North India, the trailer of Babli Bouncer begins with an introduction to the townspeople through voiceover by Saurabh Shukla (Slumdog Millionaire). As the owner of a local gym, he insists that “every boy in the village” needs to put in the muscle to get hired at a nightclub — to shape his future. While the city is notorious for taking out club bouncers on a daily basis, there is one that stands out. It is his daughter Babli, played by Bhatia, who somehow outshines every other member of the gym.
Clearly, he is a tomboy, a character trait that his mother disapproves of. “Who will marry her? She doesn’t have any feminine qualities,” says a random town woman, as the Babli Bouncer trailer tells her to go to a boy at a local wedding. Abhishek Bajaj (Student of the Year) 2), the eponymous character becomes Babli’s love interest, changes her outlook on life and encourages her to become independent. “I want to move to Delhi, and get a job,” she tells her. She wants to convince her father, that means not marrying the local pharmacist (Saanand Verma). The only issue here is that it takes her “five years” to pass high school.
When hope seems to be lost, a local bodybuilder (Sahil Vaid) informs Babli about the situation as a female bouncer. The trailer of Babli Bouncer turns into a montage of her kidnappers beating up her kidnappers, lifting weights and engaging in typical Bollywood dance sequences, as she promptly takes over.
The film directed by Bhandarkar – part of the Disney+ Hotstar multiplex banner – is one of three Indian originals airing on Disney+ Hotstar in September, along with the Akshay Kumar-led mystery thriller Katputli, which released on September 2, and the upcoming Tisca Chopra- Starrer supernatural drama Dahan. Which will premiere on 16 September.
Babli Bouncer will release on September 23, exclusively on Disney Plus Hotstar in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
