Over 380 whales died in Australia in September 2020

canberra, A group of 14 young sperm whales have died in a group stranded on a beach in Tasmania, Australia. According to a BBC report, locals on King Island alerted the authorities after seeing a dead whale on Monday afternoon. On being informed about the incident, the authorities sent a wildlife scientist and a veterinary doctor to investigate the cause of death. According to experts, whales are often trapped in Tasmania and the island of Tasmania seems to be a mysterious place for such incidents.

At the moment it is difficult to estimate how many more whales are trapped near the coast. A state government spokesperson said the aerial survey would reveal more people stranded in the area. Sperm whales can be up to 18 meters in length and up to 45 tons in weight. Wildlife scientist Vanessa Pirota told the BBC the dead whales were probably part of a ‘bachelor pod’ (a group of juvenile male whales) that ran into trouble on a beach in Tasmania.

Doctor. Pirotta said sperm whales are like ‘deep-diving buses’ and usually spend more time in deeper waters. He further said that the trapping of the whale has become a mystery. We are not yet sure why this happens. He said the whale may have navigated incorrectly and landed in shallow water here. In one such incident in September 2020, more than 380 pilot whales were trapped and died on Australia’s largest beach.
