WhatsApp for iOS May Get Option to View Messages by Date: Report

WhatsApp is reportedly working on an upgraded search feature that will allow users to view messages sent on a specific date. Functionality is being tested on WhatsApp for iOS. This feature is under development and its release is not yet known. According to a report, it has not yet been released to beta testers. The news comes days after WhatsApp for iOS got a bug after an update. The bug automatically changed the mute duration from ‘1 week’ to ‘8 hours’.

According to a Post Via WABetainfo, a platform that tests WhatsApp beta builds for features before they are released to users, WhatsApp for iOS may soon get a new search feature that will allow users to search for messages on a specific date. This means you will be able to filter results by dates. Currently, WhatsApp displays multiple results after you type a name or number in the search box.

According to reports, the feature was in development two years ago but plans to roll it out to the public were scrapped. The folks at WABetainfo say they discovered the feature after the release of the WhatsApp beta update for iOS 22.0.19.73 from TestFlight. The platform said WhatsApp has rolled out a new update through the TestFlight beta program, bringing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.19.0.73 version.

WABetaInfo has shared some screenshots that indicate a calendar icon placed just above the keyboard. To use the option to search messages of a specific date, one needs to tap on the calendar icon on WhatsApp for iPhone. A tap will open the calendar icon and a date picker will appear to select any month, date and year. As mentioned, the feature is still under development in this build and should be rolled out to beta testers in the future.

This development comes two days after WhatsApp updated its app to version 2.22.18.76 for iOS users. WhatsApp bug automatically changed mute duration from ‘1 week’ to ‘8 hours’. However, no problem occurred when users chose two other time periods to mute the chat: ‘8 hours’ and ‘Always’.
