Val-d’Oise: a cultural and sporting boost for young people

Roissy Pays de France lance deux pass culture et sport pour inciter les jeunes du territoire à ces pratiques

Encourage the youngest to cross the door of sports clubs and music halls. This is the ambition of the Roissy Pays de France urban community (Val-d’Oise) which is launching two reduction vouchers, on the model of the culture pass implemented by the government. Until October 31, young people under 18 from the intermunicipal community can subscribe to a sports pass and a culture pass for an amount of 50 euros each.

Paid without conditions of resources to young residents in one of the 42 municipalities of this intercommunality straddling Val-d’Oise and Seine-et-Marne, this check is valid with a sports club, a association or a public facility in the territory.

One million Euros

An envelope of 300,000 euros will be allocated this year by the urban community to the cultural pass. The sports offer is enriched with a budget of 650,000 euros, or 50,000 euros more than during the first edition. The ambition is to reach 12,000 young people. “We have also decided that the various Pass’agglo can be combined”, indicates Jean-Pierre Blazy, the mayor (PS) of Gonesse and vice-president in charge of culture within Roissy Pays de France.

In addition, “the signing of the republican commitment contract is a condition for associations wishing to be partners in the system”, specifies the agglomeration community. And these two checks can also be combined with the culture pass launched by the government in 2019, which can reach up to 300 euros and has been generalized since the beginning of the year.

Encourage practices

In one of the youngest departments of France, where population growth is very strong, this offer supports the budget of low-income households towards extracurricular activities. It is also a question of boosting the frequentation of the facilities of the agglomeration community.

At the origin of this initiative, the former mayor of Roissy-en-France and vice-president in charge of sports at the intercommunality, Michel Thomas, died on August 23rd. It is his first assistant Michèle Calix who has since taken over the reins of the town hall and has just inherited the same position within the agglomeration community.
