Twitter’s former security chief and popular hacker Peter Zatko will testify before a US Senate committee on Tuesday, according to a report. Several U.S. agencies are expected to be quickly investigated by the committee over claims of security flaws on the part of the popular microblogging service in a whistleblower complaint. A former Twitter executive will also be under investigation later today over allegations that Twitter misled regulators about Twitter’s compliance with a 2011 US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) settlement.

According to A Report Peter Zatko is set to testify before a US Senate committee about Twitter’s recent security lapses, via Reuters. The whistleblower’s testimony will take place on the same day shareholders will vote on Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s deal to buy the company (approximately Rs 3,49,900 crore).

A whistleblower will be investigated over claims that a Twitter employee may have acted on behalf of a foreign government, according to reports.

Twitter and Musk are set to face off in court next month, and Tesla’s CEO has already outlined his reasons for pulling out of the deal with Zatco. Musk’s lawyers have claimed that Twitter did not seek his consent when paying $7.75 million (roughly Rs. 60 crore) to the former security chief.

After the whistleblower went public, Musk was allowed to use his claims in the trial, according to previous reports. The trial will begin from October 17.
