Telegram Premium Price in India Slashed by More Than 60 Percent: All Details

Telegram Premium — the popular messaging app’s monthly subscription service — is now cheaper for users in India. The Dubai-based company has officially announced the price change for India through its messaging service and the revised price has already been reflected on the app. As part of efforts to boost revenue, the price cut for users in India comes months after Telegram introduced a premium, paid tier, adding improved functionality and new features, from more channels and accounts to faster download speeds.

Over the weekend, Telegram sent notifications to users saying: Telegram Premium is now available at a discount in your country. Premium members unlock dozens of exclusive features. A Gadgets 360 staff member also received a message informing them of the price change. The company has not yet officially announced whether it has reduced the prices of Telegram Premium in other regions.

Telegram Premium subscription in India is now Rs. 179 per month, which is more than 60 percent less than the cost of the service, which was launched globally in June. As of last week, users were getting Rs. 469 per month, which is much higher than the revised price.

In June, the company announced that the service had more than 700 million monthly active users. The service competes with popular messaging apps WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, which have more than 2 billion and 1 billion active users, respectively. Both of Meta’s messaging services currently do not offer paid subscriptions.

Users in India who subscribe to Telegram Premium will have the ability to upload large 4GB files, fast downloads and convert voice messages to text, among other features.
