Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has promised more reforms in the telecom sector and the industry should also play its part and significantly improve the quality of service. The Minister encouraged telecom operators and infrastructure providers to work swiftly to improve quality services in the country. Elaborating further, Vaishnav said initiatives cannot be one-sided and the equation should be mutual. The minister also mentioned that the journey of 5G in India will be exciting.

According to a recent PTI report, Telecom Minister Vaishnav has promised further reforms in the telecom sector. He also added that the telecom industry must make efforts to significantly improve the quality of service it provides.

The minister asked telecom operators and infrastructure providers to go “full steam ahead” to improve quality of service in India. He is also reminded that initiative cannot be unilateral and that equations have to be reconciled.

Additionally, Vaishnav also mentioned that the government has set a target of 80 percent coverage in India in a relatively short period of time considering that the journey of 5G in India will be exciting.

“While many countries have taken years to reach 40-50 per cent coverage, we are focusing on a very aggressive timeline. We should definitely achieve at least 80 per cent coverage in the shortest possible time,” Vaishnav said.
