The first copy of the “M” watch is unveiled by SilMach, a deeptech based in Besançon (Doubs), at the Micronora Show which is held in the microtechnology city from September 27 to 30. This demonstration model embeds a so-called “powerMEMS” engine developed by its president, Patrice Minotti, who has made use of his work carried out with the CNRS on silicon since the 1990s. old fashioned stepper motor invented in 1936 by Marius Lavet, to equip quartz watches around the world.

The silicon electrostatic motor uses MEMS (Micro-electromechanical systems) technology, which SilMach has been working on for almost twenty years, and drastically simplifies the architecture of the quartz movement. More compact with a 50% volume gain, more powerful and offering more features than its predecessor, it combines 21st century silicon technologiese century and those of 19th century microtechnologye century.
