Samsung Galaxy S24 could be first to support next-generation Wi-Fi 7 standard: report

Tata Group in talks with Wistron to manufacture iPhone in India: Report

The Samsung Galaxy S24 may be the first smartphone to support Wi-Fi 7 according to a claim. The news comes in the wake of rumours that the first wave of Wi-Fi 7 phones will be unveiled in the latter half of 2024. Current flagship devices from several OEMs come with Wi-Fi 6 or the more recent Wi-Fi-6E version. It is important to note that in May of this year, Qualcomm unveiled the Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series platform.

Preparing a Report The Samsung Galaxy S24 series may be the first group of phones to support the seventh-generation wireless network, according to GSMArena, which obtained this information via DigiTimes with backing from IC Inspection Lab. According to reports, Wi-Fi 7 offers 2.4 times the speed of Wi-Fi 6 technology.

The IEEE 802.11be standard (Wi-Fi 7) can support a maximum throughput of at least 30Gbps, according to the Wi-Fi organisation, which will “increase performance, enable Wi-Fi innovation, and expand use cases” for low latency applications like AR/VR, 4K and 8K streaming, and cloud computing, among others.

Wi-Fi 7 will be backward compatible and coexist with legacy devices in the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands, with a focus on improvements to the physical (PHY) and medium access control (MAC) layers.

With options for 6 to 16 streams, Qualcomm claimed to have “The most scalable Wi-Fi 7 networking platform portfolio in the world.” The US-based chip manufacturer claims that its product can support a peak throughput of more than 10Gbps and a wireless interface capability of up to 33Gbps.
