PM Modi leaves for Japan tour, attends Shinzo Abe's funeral

PM Modi Japan visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for Japan today. He will attend the funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tuesday. Speaking about the Prime Minister’s visit to Japan, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for Tokyo to attend the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Prime Minister Modi has tweeted before leaving for Japan. In which he said, “I am going to Tokyo tonight to attend the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.” He described Abe as a dear friend and great supporter of Indo-Japanese friendship. Prime Minister Modi has also informed that he will be meeting Japanese Prime Minister Kishida and Mrs. Abe to offer condolences on behalf of all Indians.

Bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan

Prime Minister Modi said, we will continue to work to strengthen India-Japan relations in line with Abe’s vision. Earlier, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra told reporters that Prime Minister Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida after a visit of around 12 to 16 hours.
