OnePlus 10T’s Reported Structural Issues Denied by Company: All Details

OnePlus 10T

The OnePlus 10T meets or exceeds all of OnePlus’ extensive durability testing procedures and can withstand daily use, the company said. The company’s statement comes days after a video on the phone’s durability by YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. The video shows the OnePlus 10T breaking in half — just like the OnePlus 10 Pro — after being subjected to pressure. The OnePlus 10T performed well in the scratch test and did well after toasting its display with a lighter.

“OnePlus 10T meets or exceeds all of OnePlus’ extensive durability testing procedures, including a pressure test where the device is suspended and weight is applied to both its front and back at its center. The OnePlus 10T features an enhanced structural engineering design and can withstand more than 45kg of external force in this test at OnePlus’ lab, OnePlus said in a statement sent to Gadgets 360.

The OnePlus 10T was subjected to rigorous durability tests by YouTuber Zack Nelson on his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. The video shows that the recently launched smartphone survived several tests in which the handset suffered scratches and fire. The phone worked flawlessly despite the scratched glass protection and burnt display.

However, it failed to survive the bend test and literally snapped in half — just like the OnePlus 10 Pro. Both phones suffered catastrophic damage and broke just below the camera module when bent in the middle. The OnePlus 10T lasted longer than the OnePlus 10 Pro, Nelson said in the video.

“While designing, engineering and manufacturing OnePlus devices, we ensure that they not only offer a beautiful and unburdened design, but are also durable enough to withstand daily use,” the OnePlus statement added.

It’s worth noting that the bend test is a way to expose the phone to extreme conditions, which may or may not happen to consumers in real-life situations. However, it is safe to say that the phone will suffer some catastrophic damage if it is subjected to extreme conditions.
