Ocean’s Eleven: Ryan Gosling says he’s in talks to star opposite Margot Robbie in new prequel movie

Ryan Gosling is in talks to join Margot Robbie in the new Ocean’s Eleven movie. According to Deadline , the pair will reunite in a prequel to four-time Emmy winner Jay Roach’s franchise, set in Europe in the sixties. While plot details are still under wraps, reports suggest that it will connect and incorporate elements from the original trilogy conceived by Steven Soderbergh. Apart from starring in the project, Robbie will produce the film under her LuckyChap banner.

This is the third collaboration between Robbie (The Suicide Squad) and Gosling (Blade Runner 2049), who are currently filming the live-action adaptation. Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig (Little Women). Robbie had a small role in 2015 in Adam McKay’s The Big Short, a mockumentary detailing how the housing stock market works.

Jay Roach’s Ocean’s Eleven prequel has yet to be greenlit and is currently in “active development” at Warner Bros. Initial report It came out in May hinting that it would be a heist comedy.

With a screenplay written by Cary Solomon, best known for the legal drama series The Good Fight, fans can expect a heist story set in the 1960s. Roach is the more familiar name of the two, responsible for the Austin Powers film series, the 2012 Emmy-winning Game Change, and the Robbie-starrer Bombshell. The Ocean’s Eleven prequel will mark the second collaboration between Roach and Robbie.

Warner Bros.’ Ocean’s franchise began in 2001, when Soderbergh (km) brought together an A-list cast to complete the heist for the silver screen. The roaring success paved the way for the sequel, completing the trilogy with George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt in the lead roles. Oceans Eleven grossed $450.7 million (approx. 3,600 crores) at the global box office. It had a budget of $85 million (roughly Rs. 679 crore).

In 2018, a female-centric spin-off film titled Ocean’s 8 opened to mixed reception. It was directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games), with Soderbergh and Clooney serving as producers. Prior to release, Soderbergh stated that he had no intention of continuing the Ocean’s franchise, citing the death of Bernie Mac, who played Frank Catan in the previous films.

The Ocean’s Eleven prequel is currently in active development, and therefore does not have a set release window. The Hollywood Reporter Note that a spring 2023 release is likely — which is surprising, since cameras are far from rolling on the film.
