The accused shooter and the dead and injured youth are residents of the surrounding area. According to preliminary information, the firing took place due to a dispute over Dahi Handi.

Youth Ankit Yadav was killed in the firing. Three youths Avinash Dabholkar, Manish Gupta and Prakash Narayan were injured in the accident. He is undergoing treatment at Shatabdi Hospital. All three are out of danger.
Meanwhile, a team of Kandivali police reached the spot and performed Panchnama. Kandivali police is investigating the incident further and the process of registering a case is on.

“The incident of firing took place in Kandivali police station limits today at 12.15 pm. It is reported that two persons came on a motorcycle and opened fire on four youths. One person died, three persons were injured in this incident. Three persons were killed. Condition is out of danger. Preliminary investigation of four rounds. Firing has been received. Two youths on bike fled from the spot after firing. Further investigation is on,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Thakur, Zone 11.
Earlier, there was an incident of firing in Bandra area of Mumbai as well. In the firing on September 9, a man was shot in the back. He was seriously injured in this incident. The accused fled after firing.
