A case of beating of a priest (Pandit) has come to light in Madhya Pradesh. In Indore, a priest was beaten up by people who called him for worship. The priest was thrashed saying that the rituals performed during Satyanarayana Puja had a bad effect on the family. The priest’s name is Kunjbihari Sharma and he is originally from Kota district of Rajasthan. Chandannagar police station in-charge Abhay Nema told PTI that after the puja on Thursday, two boys beat up the priest.

“The people living in scheme number-71 brought the priest to the police station covered in blood. The 60-year-old priest was called to perform puja at Laxmikant Sharma’s house. But late night Laxmikant Sharma and his sons Vipul and Arun beat up the priest. Vipul also cut off the priest’s ear. The family alleges that Arun was behaving strangely after the puja.

The whole family served me a lot and gave me food. On September 30, I was sleeping there Laxmikant and his younger son Vipul came to me. They woke me up and said what puja have you done in our house? Arun is behaving strangely.”

After that he started abusing me. When I protested, they started beating me. His elder son Arun also reached there. He beat me too. Meanwhile, the child cut off my right ear with a sharp weapon. I was shouting, people of the area gathered on hearing the sound. He saved me. Tried to find the cut part of the ear but could not find it.
