Hush Hush now has a release date. Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that its upcoming dramatic thriller series, led by an all-female cast, will premiere on September 22. The seven-episode series stars Juhi Chawla and Ayesha Jhulka – along with Soha Ali Khan (Rang De Basanti) – making their streaming debut), Kritika Kamra, Shahana Goswami and Karishma Tanna in the lead roles. Tanuja Chandra returns to direct and executive produce the show after a four-year hiatus.
Details about Hush Hush are very vague, though it is described as a thriller that centers around a group of women, whose picture-perfect lives begin to unravel when an unexpected event intervenes. Long-buried secrets come to light and threaten to destroy their family, prompting the women to work together and weave a web of lies and deceit. While the premise sounds similar to HBO’s Big Little Lies , Amazon is marketing it based on an entirely all-female cast and crew — with no concrete information on the actual content.
Chandra – best known for the Irrfan Khan-led Qarib Qarib single – is directed from a story by Shikha Sharma (Sherni), who teamed up with Ashish Mehta for the full screenplay. Both worked with Juhi Chaturvedi.pick up) for interactions.
Hush Hush was announced as part of their Indian Originals lineup earlier this year, along with 57 other titles, to be released over the next few years. “Women make up 50 percent of the population, yet the stories they tell and the perspectives they have are very few,” said Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals, Prime Video.

Hush Hush is an emotional and intriguing story that lights up the screen with nuanced, flawed and complex women.”
Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment is handling production duties on Hush Hush. The studio had previously helmed the Vidya Balan-led title Goddess Shakuntala, Jalsa and Noor led by Balan and Shefali Shah. “In pursuit of our philosophy of bringing disruptive content to our audiences, we proudly champion women-first narratives — stories of and around powerful women, told by equally powerful voices,” they said in a prepared statement.
Hush Hush will be available for streaming from September 22, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
