House of the Dragon Episode 4 Trailer: Enter Prince Daemon, the New Contender to the Iron Throne

The trailer of House of the Dragon Episode 4 has been released. HBO has released a preview for next week’s episode of the Game of Thrones prequel series, which teases the continuation of the power struggle as King Viserys (Paddy Considine) grapples with choosing an heir to the Iron Throne. “King of the Narrow Sea,” House of the Dragon Episode 4 does not appear to be titled and suggests the involvement of a traitor in the middle. House of the Dragon Episode 4 releases on September 12 at 6:30 am IST/ September 11 at 9 pm ET on Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Max.

The trailer for House of the Dragon Episode 4 unfolds after a massive battle against a crab feeder, in which Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) emerges victorious. Crowning himself ‘King of the Narrow Sea’, he returns to King’s Landing seeking a claim to the Iron Throne. This creates an even greater challenge for Viserys (Considine), who must now choose between his daughter Princess Rhaenyra (Miley Alcock), his brother Daemon and his newborn son Aegon II.

House of the Dragon Episode 3 Review: Baby Boy Aegon II Changes Everything

Previously, in House of the Dragon, the king married Alice Hightower (Emily Carey) – who was also his daughter’s best friend. Understandably, Rhaenyra is upset because her position is now being challenged by two individuals who are not “technically” heirs to the spiked seat. This also leads to a situation where Viserys considers freeing his daughter from the duties of the matrimonial institution. “You are my political headache!” he exclaims in frustration.

The House of the Dragon episode 4 trailer then follows Sir Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) hacking, sabotaging and filling the king’s ears with rumours, to ensure that his grandson Aegon is chosen as heir. Of course, Rhaenyra is the prime suspect here, with Elicent by her side for emotional support. “It is not in Rhaenyra’s nature to cheat. I can’t say the same for your brother,” she says, as Damon walks around in black, sporting a sinister grin. The trailer ends with a quick shot of a dragon zipping off a ship taking Rhaenyra to an unknown destination.

Last week, House of the Dragon co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik stepped down from the show. Starting with Season 2, he will be credited as an executive producer for the Game of Thrones prequel series, opening the door for Alan Taylor to take over. Taylor — known for his work on Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World — worked closely with writer George RR Martin on Ryan J. Condle will work with and distribute the upcoming season for House of the Dragon. Sapochnik has also signed a first-look deal with HBO, focusing on new projects.

New House of the Dragon episodes air every Monday on Disney+ Hotstar in India at 6:30 am IST and Sundays at 9 pm ET on HBO Max wherever available. The first season consists of 10 episodes.
