Shaan belongs to a Bengali family. His full name is Shantanu Mukherjee. Throughout his career, Shaan has won the hearts of music lovers by singing songs in several languages including Hindi, Bengali, english, Urdu, Telugu, Kannada, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi and Malayalam. Shaan’s musical journey started at the age of four. Shaan had inherited the music from his family. Shaan’s grandfather Jahar Mukherjee was a famous lyricist. So, his father Manas Mukherjee was a music director.

Shaan started singing jingles for ad films from a young age. At the age of 17, he sang for the first time in a film.

It was the first time that Shaan and his sister Sagarika sang for a music company. It also included some remix songs. Shaan’s album became a hit. But, it was through the songs ‘Bhool Jaa’ and ‘Tanha Dil’ that Shaan himself wrote that he got his real identity. Both his songs were released in 1999. After this, Shaan never looked back.
