Pixel 7 to Be Made in Vietnam as Google Begins Moving Flagship Production Out of China: Report

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro initial hands-on video shared online by YouTuber. Both models of the upcoming Google smartphone were reportedly early developer versions and the phones were seen with only a bootloader screen. In the video, the YouTuber also shared some of the hardware specs and design features of the two Google smartphones. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were also featured in the video to compare with the alleged early developer versions of the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel Pro.

The YouTube channel is Unbox Therapy shared Hands-on video of alleged early developer versions of the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. The video suggests that the upcoming Pixel smartphones will retain the horizontal layout for the rear camera module. The Pixel 7 can be seen with a dual rear camera setup and the Pixel 7 Pro with a triple rear camera setup.

According to the video, the Google logo on both the handsets can be placed in the middle of the back panel. According to the YouTuber, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will have a “visor-like” design. According to the video, the Pixel 6 Pro is also mentioned to be slightly taller and thicker than the Pixel 7 Pro. The Pixel 7 is said to be significantly shorter in height compared to the Pixel 6. Both the upcoming Google smartphones could sport slimmer bezels than the Pixel 6 series. The Pixel 7 series is also said to be thinner than the Pixel 6 series, but with the same rear camera module thickness.

Pixel 7 Pro early developer version spotted in video with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB storage. The Pixel Pro’s bootloader screen also suggests the codename ‘Cheetah EVT1.1’, as seen in the Unbox Therapy video. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 has 8GB of Samsung LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of storage. The handset can be seen codenamed ‘Panther EVT1.1’. According to the video, the Pixel 7 Pro could have polished right and left spines, while the Pixel 7 could get matte finish sides. According to the YouTuber, both the handsets are also said to support wireless charging.

Up front, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro can be seen with a hole-punch display in the unboxing therapy video. The Pixel 7 Pro may get a slightly larger hole-punch cutout, the YouTuber said. The YouTuber also weighs in on the Pixel 7 series handsets. The Pixel 7 is said to be around 10g lighter than the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 7 Pro is said to be around a gram heavier than the Pixel 6 Pro.

To recall, the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro were teased at the Google I/O 2022 keynote event. Both the flagship phones are said to launch later this year. They are powered by the next-generation Tensor SoC and run on Android 13 out-of-the-box.
