Elon Musk sends another letter to Twitter that demands termination of takeover deal over whistleblower claims: report

Elon Musk has sent a letter to Twitter demanding it cancel its $44 billion (roughly Rs 3,51,300) deal to acquire the microblogging service, citing explosive claims by a whistleblower regarding the company’s security. The move comes after Musk subpoenaed a whistleblower to gain access to documents that could provide information on Twitter’s spam accounts on its platform. Musk has been sued by Twitter, which has asked a US court to order it to complete the transaction in accordance with the agreement.

After the Tesla CEO subpoenaed Twitter’s former security chief and whistleblower Peter ‘Maj’ Zatko for information about how the company manages spam accounts, Elon Musk sent another letter to the microblogging platform, demanding it cancel its contract for the service. Report via Reuters.

The Tesla CEO recently submitted whistleblowers for documents as part of an effort to expose Twitter’s attempts to hide security weaknesses with its platform. In its complaint, Zatko alleged that Twitter failed to comply with a 2011 agreement with the US Federal Trade Commission.

Musk had earlier alleged that he was misled about the true number of spam or bot accounts on the social media platform, as he tries to walk away from a deal to buy Twitter for $44 billion (around Rs 3,51,300). Twitter has sued Musk, asking the court to direct it to complete the transaction as per the agreement, while Musk has resisted the service, raising a legal battle that is set to begin in October.
