Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: It is clear that many things have changed with respect to road transport in India over the years. Do you know that India’s longest, advanced and expensive expressway is going to be built soon. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had said in a program that 70 per cent work of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has been completed and only 30 per cent work is left.

It takes around 20 hours to travel from Mumbai to Delhi. But once the work of this expressway is completed, it will be possible to travel between Mumbai and Delhi in just 12 hours. The journey of Delhi-Mumbai by road is 1450 KM. The expressway will reduce this distance to 1350 km. (Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is now the shortest time possible to travel from Delhi to Mumbai in NZ)

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is 1350 km long and will be 8 lanes wide. Rs 1 lakh crore has been spent on this expressway. Out of which Rs 60,000 crore will be spent on construction and Rs 40,000 crore on land acquisition.

On the said route you can make use of facilities like hotels, restaurants, petrol pumps and toilets. This expressway will connect the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. This route will make travel more comfortable for the people.

With the opening of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, 8.76 lakh liters of fuel will be saved per day and about 32 crore liters of petrol will be saved annually. This will reduce environmental degradation. CO2 emissions will be reduced by 850 million kilometres. This figure is enough to plant four crore trees.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be ready by 2023.
