Dahan, a new Hotstar Specials, recently got trailer and release date. Disney+ Hotstar unveiled the trailer of the upcoming Tisca Chopra-led supernatural horror film ahead of its September 16 release. The nine-episode series is directed by Vikrant Pawar, his first full-length project after directing a few short films. the past The series is scripted by a team of three: Nisarga Mehta, Nikhil Nair and Shiva Bajpayee, the two of whom had collaborated on Disney+ Hotstar’s Collar Bomb last year.
Set in the fictional city of Shilaspura, Dahan’s trailer opens with a voiceover detailing its haunted past, as a silhouette of a man explores an ancient cave. As said, centuries ago, the city was cursed by an elusive preacher, whose spirit still resides in one of the ruins. Such superstitions are prevalent in the village of Shilaspura that it is claimed that if the spirit escapes, death and destruction are certain. On current events, you have a rational minded District Magistrate, played by Chopra, who is intent on mining the rare minerals around the ruins.
Tensions rise as villagers warn her of dangers — even bringing in a new preacher (Saurabh Shukla) as a counselor. Because of this, the officer and her team proceed with the mining process, releasing the spirit into the forest. What follows is a series of bloody events, as civilians are either killed or captured – almost like zombies. Other mysterious occurrences include random bursts of rain, birds falling from the sky, and dead fish floating on the local river. The combustion trailer concludes with a series of exorcisms and holy chants, as the locals start rioting among themselves.
“What I love most about Dahan – Rakan Ka Rahasya is how it captures raw fear as each character faces their own demons. My character Avni Raut fights a personal and professional battle as she gets caught up in the quagmire of superstition and the supernatural on the one hand and resin and pragmatism on the other,” Chopra said in a prepared statement.
The nine-episode serial has been shot in Rajasthan. Dahan also stars Rajesh Tailang (Delhi Crime), Mukesh Tiwari, Ankur Nayyar and Rohan Joshi (Psyche).
Dahan will be available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from September 16.
