It is important to know the history and political significance of the goddess Tembhi Naka of Thane named Durgeshwari. Navratri festival started with Anand Dighe i.e. Navratri festival at Tembhi Naka. Late Anand Dighe started this festival from the year 1978. The festival is organized by Shri Jai Ambe Maa Public Charitable Trustee. The idol of this goddess also has a special feature. He idolized the vision of the goddess of Anand Dighe. The same idol is being built till today.

Anand Dighe himself used to worship the goddess with devotion for nine days. Gradually, this Navratri festival on Tembi Nayak started gaining fame in Thane and even outside Thane. All senior leaders of Shiv Sena including Balasaheb Thackeray, Meenatai Thackeray, Chief Minister, MLA, MP, Mayor have visited this goddess many times. Not only Shiv Sena but important leaders of all parties, social workers and eminent personalities visit this goddess every year. Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray also continued the same tradition. Initially there was no restriction, so Garba used to go on till 6 in the morning at this place. That’s why there was more crowd in this disguise than the queue for the darshan of the king of Lalbagh.
The tradition started with Eknath Shinde after the death of Anand Dighe
Anand Dighe passed away in 2002. After that Shiv Sena leaders in Thane continued this celebration. what matters is the present Chief Minister Eknath Shinde (CM Eknath Shinde) did not let the tradition of Navratri festival (Navratri 2022) stop at Tembi Naka. Hence Eknath Shinde himself is involved in the arrival and immersion of the Goddess on Ashtami. But this year he formed his own faction and formed the government with the help of BJP. This has led to a vertical split in the Shiv Sena like the Uddhav Thackeray group and the Eknath Shinde group. Hence the Uddhav Thackeray group and the Eknath Shinde group have faced each other many times in this festival of Goddess after Dahi Handi in Thane.
All Shiv Sena officials, led by Rajan Vikhre, came to Thane to see this goddess saying that there should be no politics in the celebration of the goddess. But today there is news that Uddhav Thackeray’s wife Rashmi Thackeray will come for the aarti like every year. Because today’s evening Aarti has been given to the women Aghada of Shinde Group. However, the Shinde group has said that they will treat Rashmi Thackeray with respect.
