Chromecast with Google TV (HD) price tipped ahead of launch: all the details

Tata Group in talks with Wistron to manufacture iPhone in India: Report

The price of Chromecast with Google TV (HD) in the US has leaked online ahead of its launch, according to a tipster. While the company has yet to release details of the rumored device, several retailers in the US are said to have it in stock. Unboxing and hands on videos can be expected to appear online in the near future. Leaked pricing details suggest that Chromecast with Google TV (HD) will cost less than Chromecast with Google TV (4K). It was earlier reported that Google may soon launch an affordable Chromecast with Google TV.

Tipster SnoopyTech (@snoopyTech)SnoopyTech) recently shared on Twitter that the rumored Chromecast with Google TV (HD) will be priced at $40 (roughly Rs. 3,200) in the US. The tipster added that the dongle is already in stock at “a number of retailers”. Unboxing and hands-on videos of the new Chromecast can be expected to appear online soon. This is in line with a previous report, which suggested similar pricing for an affordable version of Chromecast with Google TV.

In October 2020, Chromecast with Google TV (4K) was unveiled in the US with a price tag of $49.99 (roughly Rs. 4,000). Almost two years after its launch in the US, Chromecast with Google TV (4K) was launched in India in July with a price tag of Rs. 6,399.

As per the above mentioned report, Chromecast with Google TV (HD) has already been distributed to some dealers in Europe. The rumored dongle is said to have reduced streaming capabilities. It will support Full-HD (1,920×1,080 pixels) resolution. Unlike 4K models, Google TV with Chromecast (HD) may not have HDR support.

Chromecast with Google TV (4K) supports 4K HDR streaming at up to 60fps. It also supports HDMI pass-through of Dolby Vision content and Dolby Audio content. Chromecast with Google TV Remote sports a dedicated Google Assistant button that enables users to control their smart home electronics. There is also a dedicated button for various streaming services and entertainment platforms.
