Mumbai Auto Rickshaw and Taxi Fare Hike: Mumbaikars from today (Mumbaikar) Travel will be expensive and in Mumbai rickshaw (rickshaw) and the cab(taxi) fare will be increased. This decision has been taken in a meeting between the state government and the Rickshaw Taxi Union. According to the approval given by the government, now Rs 23 will have to be paid for a rickshaw and Rs 28 for a taxi. As a result of the rickshaw and taxi union calling off the strike, though the hardships faced by the devotees in the wake of Navratri celebrations, the travel of Mumbaikars has become expensive.
From today (Mumbai News) there will be an increase of Rs 3 in taxi fare and Rs 2 in autorickshaw fare. That is, people in Mumbai and metropolitan areas will now have to pay a minimum of Rs 28 for traveling by black and yellow taxis and Rs 23 for traveling by autorickshaw. The new fare will be applicable from today. Meanwhile, for several days there was a demand to increase the fare of autos and taxis, but the government was not paying attention to it.
Taxi and rickshaw fare hike
As per the new charges, the minimum fare for a black-and-yellow taxi for a distance of one and a half kilometer will now be Rs 28 instead of Rs 25, while the fare for an autorickshaw for such a distance will now be Rs. 23. Passengers will have to pay Rs 18.66 per km instead of Rs 16.93 for traveling by black and yellow taxis for a distance of at least one and a half kms instead of Rs 21.
The autorickshaw fare will be Rs 15.33 per kilometer instead of Rs 14.20. In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, on March 1, 2021, 60 thousand taxis and about 4.6 lakh autorickshaws are charging fares as per the fixed rates.
What does the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority say?
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA) has said that the new rates will be applicable on taxis running on petrol and CNG. On March 1, 2021, the price of CNG gas was Rs 49 per kg, which has now increased to Rs 8011 per kg. Apart from this, other expenses including inflation and living expenses have also increased.
The fare for blue-silver ‘cool’ cab taxis has been increased from Rs 30 to Rs 40 per kilometer for the shortest distance. After that Rs 26.71 per kilometer will have to be paid. The MMRTA has given time till November 30 to replace the meter according to the new rates.
