Art: the American market is recovering

Monets, Degas, Watteaus… As part of a traveling exhibition that has passed through Shanghai, London, Los Angeles, each time with a selection of different lots, Christie’s Paris is currently welcoming treasures from Ann’s collection. and Gordon Getty (the son of the American oil magnate) before their auction in New York at the end of October.

During four highly anticipated evenings in the halls of Rockefeller Plaza, but also online, nearly 1,500 lots will be offered, from the legendary residence of the Getty couple in San Francisco. A charity sale estimated at 180 million dollars, before the dispersion in November of the collection of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, for which the entire Christie’s New York staff is on deck. The stakes are high since it should exceed one billion dollars, winning the record for the Macklowe collection (922 million dollars) sold at Sotheby’s at the end of 2021.
