Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) With Personalised Spatial Audio, New H2 Chip Launched

Apple launched its second generation AirPods Pro, or AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) at its ‘Far Out’ event on Wednesday. Like the company’s first generation of high-end Truly Wireless Stereo (TWS) earphones that debuted in 2019, the new AirPods Pro 2 come with inbuilt speakers with Find My support. AirPods Pro (2nd generation) are equipped with a new Apple H2 chip that the company says offers improved noise cancellation and support for personalized spatial audio. The earphones offer up to 6 hours of battery life and an additional 30 hours with a charging case. They also support wireless charging with support for Apple’s MagSafe, according to the company.

Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) price is set at $249 (Rs. 19,850 approx). Its price in India is Rs. 26,900. The company’s latest TWS earphones will be available for pre-order from Apple Online shop From September 9, customers can purchase it from September 23.

Back in 2019, Apple unveiled the AirPods Pro, priced at Rs. 24,900 in India. Apple has also announced that AirPods will now be priced at Rs. 19,900 and Rs. 20,900 with MagSafe charging case.

The successor to the first generation AirPods Pro launched in 2019 is powered by the Apple H2 chip. The new earphones offer support for Dolby Atmos and personalized spatial audio with head tracking, which can be customized by the user, according to Apple. AirPods Pro (2nd generation) has a custom high-excursion driver with improved audio quality, as well as a force sensor for pressure control along the stems of the earphones.

They claim to double the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) performance compared to the previous generation AirPods Pro. There’s also an adaptive transparency mode, and each AirPod is capable of playing sound individually with the U1 chip for accurate tracking via Find My, which is built into the charging case. There is also a speaker on the case to allow users to detect audio devices.

On the connectivity front, the new AirPods Pro (2nd generation) features Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, according to the Cupertino firm. They will also feature skin-detection support with sensors to detect when the earbuds are in the user’s ears to automatically start or stop media playback, along with a motion-detecting accelerometer and a speech-detecting accelerometer. The earbuds and charging case have an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance.

Apple says AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) offer up to 6 hours of listening time (33 percent more) than their predecessors. Users can get up to 30 hours of battery life on a full charge, which increases by 6 hours. According to the company, the earphones can be charged wirelessly via a Lightning cable, with a Qi-certified charger, and with Apple’s proprietary MagSafe charging protocol. According to Apple, the earphones measure 30.9×21.8x24mm and weigh 5.3 grams, while the case measures 45.2×60.6×21.7mm and weighs 50.8 grams.
