As per the official data available with the Army, under the newly introduced Agneepath scheme for Army recruitment in the Army Police force (cmp) 2.5 lakh women have registered for 100 vacancies only.

The CMP is the only branch that recruits women for lower rank officers in the army. These women military police personnel will be assigned duties in counter-terrorism, ceremonial and police deployment, including crowd control and investigation.

82 thousand women recruited in navy
After the recruitment of the first batch of the Military Police Force in 2020, its second recruitment was postponed due to the COVID pandemic. After this the process is started again.

The Indian Navy had announced in June 2022 to recruit women sailors in every branch under the Agneepath scheme. Around 10 lakh candidates have applied for the Agniveer scheme in the Navy, out of which 82,000 are women. Announcing the recruitment of women, the Navy had said that at present 30 women officers are stationed on warships. As of June 2022, of the approximately 70,000 officers in the Indian Armed Forces (Army 1,705, Indian Air Force 1,640 and Navy 559), only 3,904 women were formed.
