Congress President’s election will be interesting

The election of Congress President is likely to be interesting in the coming days. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday distanced himself from the race for the post of G-23 group chairman. He took this decision after meeting Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The suspense has also increased regarding his continuous tenure as Chief Minister. It has been clarified by the party that a decision in this regard will be taken in a day or two.

These four candidates are in the electoral fray
After Gehlot’s entry, Digvijay Singh is in the race for Congress President. Digvijay told that these four candidates are in the fray. Nominations will be filed on Friday. However, it is not clear whether the party high command has supported Digvijay or not. Digvijay Singh himself accepted this and said that he himself has decided to contest the elections. Sources say that the party high command is considering the name of a Dalit candidate. Mallikarjun Kharge is at the fore in this. Apart from this, the names of Meira Kumar, Mukul Wasnik (G-23) and Kumari Selja are also in the discussion.

Apart from Tharoor, there could be another candidate from G-23.
At present, Kharge is scheduled to meet Sonia Gandhi on Friday morning. Everyone is paying attention to this meeting. Kharge can enter the electoral fray if he gets the approval of the high command. There are reports of some G-23 leaders reaching Anand Sharma’s house late at night. It includes the names of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Manish Tewari, Prithviraj Chavan. Apart from Shashi Tharoor (G-23), any of these candidates is believed to be the candidate. Such is the wait and watch situation among the leaders of this G-23.

Who will be the candidate of Gandhi family?
It is too early to rule out the possibility of Ashok Gehlot entering the presidential election. Talks are going on with Gehlot. Meanwhile, Mukul Wasnik and Ambika Soni are mediating. In such a situation, the rebel leaders are waiting for who will be the candidate of Gandhi family if not Gehlot. Accordingly, the further strategy will be decided and any of these leaders can file their candidature on the last date. Meetings are being held every other day regarding the election of the President.

Tharoor and Digvijay’s final nominations!
Shashi Tharoor (G-23) will file his nomination here on Friday. He held a meeting with Digvijay Singh on Thursday and both the leaders said that their fight would not be between rivals but between friends and ultimately the Congress would win. Digvijay Singh submitted a total of 10 sets of nomination papers throughout the day. He said he would file his nomination papers on Friday. In Jharkhand, former minister KN Tripathi also collected a set of nomination papers for the party’s top post.

Voting for the post of Congress President on October 17
Digvijay Singh told reporters- I have taken the nomination papers and probably on Friday I will file my nomination papers. Will you contest the election at the behest of the party leadership? When asked about this, he said – I have taken the decision myself. Are they serious about the election? When asked, the Congress leader said- Why don’t you take me seriously? Digvijay Singh reached Delhi late on Wednesday night from India Jodi Yatra. Voting for the post of Congress President will be held on October 17 and results will be declared on October 19.
