Demonstration demand on Monday October 3rd in Berlin: Take the money from those who have it. The advocates of an unconditional basic income on the left want to give everyone enough money so that they can freely decide whether and what they want to do in life. They too want to take a lot away from the rich for the time being.

The older ones will remember: In the days of the GDR there was a competition organized by the youth newspaper »Junge Welt«. Under the motto “Dreams into the year 2000”, the readers were asked to write down how they imagined that year, which was still far away at the time. Of course, the participants portrayed a world freed from exploitation and wars. Perhaps many also thought of a world without the need to work, but that wasn’t very much in vogue at the time.

But that’s exactly the kind of world today’s leftists want. And we remember from civics classes that the essence of communism is that everyone should contribute to the community according to their abilities and at the same time be cared for according to their needs. There is also a bit of communism in the result of the members’ decision of the left on the unconditional basic income (BGE). A majority voted for the demand to be included in the party manifesto. So there will soon be a bit more »cloud cuckoo land« in the policy paper. Why not. In the year 3000 at the latest it will be time.
