Deepak Kesarkar on Kolhapur Dussehra: For the first time, the government will actively participate in the royal Dussehra, which has historical traditions and glory of Kolhapur. Kolhapur’s Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar told that Shahu Maharaj’s permission has been given for this. Kesarkar also announced that Rs 25 lakh would be given for this royal Dussehra.

Deepak Kesarkar told in the press conference how this year’s historic royal Dussehra will be. Rajesh Kshirsagar and Malojiraje Chhatrapati, Executive Chairman of the State Planning Board were present on the occasion. Guardian Minister Kesarkar said, this year’s royal Dussehra festival will last for two days. Kolhapur Dussehra will last for three days from next year.

He further said, for Dussehra, exhibitions will be held from Shahu Palace to Dussehra Chowk. Through this, efforts will be made to create employment for women. He also mentioned that he would discuss in the cabinet to make the royal Dussehra of Kolhapur at the state level next year.

Deepak Kesarkar announced that Rs 25 lakh would be given from the funds of the District Planning Board. He said that along with this fund, we are also looking for sponsors. Since it is a festival of the people, it is considered as a folk festival. He assured that even if the government is involved, there will be no problem in the tradition.

It is believed that flowers are being showered from the helicopter on the palanquin of Ambabai and the statue of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. For this, discussions have been held with industrialist Sanjay Ghodawat to hire a helicopter from Pune. A proposal to make it a state function will be placed before the cabinet next year. An announcement in this regard will be made by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister of the state. Shahu Maharaj’s views will come in front of the people on this occasion, Kesarkar also said.

Meanwhile, plans are being made by the administration to celebrate the royal Dussehra festival in a grand manner, as well as plans for the participation of all sections of the society, the outline of various cultural and other activities, the attractive electric light of the festival in relation to the widespread popularity. Collector Rahul Rekhawar gave information about arrangements, beautification of historical places and procession routes, various facilities for citizens and tourists etc. in the meeting held yesterday.
