To capture the movement of tigers, the Kolhapur Forest Department and Wildlife Conservation Trust, a wildlife lover’s organisation, have captured the movement of tigers with the help of camera traps. From November 2021 to April 2022, one camera trap each was installed at 22 locations in South Konkan and Kolhapur. In some places, the movements of tigers were recorded through camera traps for two months and at some places for six months. Eight tigers have been sighted for the first time in the Kolhapur corridor.

The movement of tigers was being recorded for the last few years. A pair of male and female tigers were found in the area. Apart from this, the local residents claimed that the number of tigers in the area is high. Complaints were also made to the forest department about the animals of the residents of this area being poached by tigers. So now there are eight tigers in Kolhapur forest area.

Cheetahs have returned to Indian soil after almost seven decades. Eight cheetahs brought from Namibia were released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Kuno Reserve on September 17. Eight cheetahs have 4 females and 3 males. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the cheetahs at the Kuno Sanctuary on his 72nd birthday after a special aircraft carrying eight cheetahs from Namibia reached Gwalior.
