1.1 million Tesla vehicles have recalled owing to problematic automatic window reversing software.

Tesla Issues Recall of Nearly 1.1 Million Cars Over Faulty Automatic Window Reversing Software

Because the window automated reversal mechanism may not respond appropriately after sensing an impediment, increasing the risk of harm, Tesla is recalling almost 1.1 million US vehicles.

The manufacturer of electric vehicles has informed NHTSA that it would update the software for the automated window reversing system over the air. A select number of Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X cars from the model years 2017 to 2022 are included in the recall.

According to Tesla, the recall has not been the subject of any warranty claims, field reports, collisions, injuries, or fatalities.

According to NHTSA, an improper automated reversing system might cause a closing window to exert too much force by pinching the driver or passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury.

The federal motor vehicle safety criteria for power windows, according to NHTSA, were not met by the automobiles.

Employees discovered greater-than-expected variance in the window automated reversal system’s functionality during production testing in August, according to Tesla.

Tesla came to the conclusion that the vehicle’s performance in the test results for pinch detection and retraction did not match the standards for the autonomous reversing system after doing significant further testing.

According to Tesla, a software update that has been applied to vehicles in production and in pre-delivery since September 13 has established the power operated window functionality as necessary.
